Summary: sort tasks vertically before hortizontally in multirow
                    lists
           Product: plasma
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Compiled Sources
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: plasma-bugs@kde.org
        ReportedBy: kairo@kairo.at

Version: 4.1.82 (using Devel)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Compiled sources

First, the option to have a multirow display of the task bar is basically nice
for me, I used it heavily in KDE3 as well, and being able to resort entries via
drag & drop there is very much appreciated by me!

KDE 3.5 ordered the tasks vertically before horizontally, while KDE 4.2 does it
the other way round. Say, I have 6 tasks in a forced-2-row-taskbar, then it
looks like that:

KDE3:
1--- 3--- 5---
2--- 4--- 6---

KDE4:
1--- 2--- 3---
4--- 5--- 6---

Now, both have their logic and are something one can get used to, sure. But now
consider I open a 7th window, then it looks like this:

KDE3:
1-- 3-- 5-- 7--
2-- 4-- 6--

KDE4:
1-- 2-- 3-- 4--
5-- 6-- 7--

See how much of a jump the item #4 makes and how the taskbar display is
completely altered for everything that wasn't in the top row before in KDE4,
while in KDE3 it's easy to still know pretty intuitively where to find the
tasks, even without interpreting the exact text/icons on the entries?

I'm not against changes, being a OSS software project manager myself, but in
this case, I think the new behavior is probably confusing for almost everyone
(and I guess fallout of the implementation of the new tasks plasma applet), and
I think the sorting should be changed to match the previous version here.

(This might be a dependency of the fixed bug 163935 for multirow taskbars.)
