Oh no, you don't have to. The error is fixed but there is no new official
version containing it yet. I just checked:
* KDE 4.2 (coming in January) will contain the fix
* KDE 4.1.3 (coming probably next week) will contain the fix

So you don't have to bother upgrading until 4.1.3 is available for Kubuntu.
