I am getting this problem too. Konqueror seems unable to log in and from the
wireshark log I can see that for some strange reason it sends a TCP FIN command
right after sending a SYST command. So, it terminates the connection and then
reopens it to send PWD, which fails. I'll attach a log from wireshark.

The odd thing is that konqueror can open any other anonymous ftp site and also
firefox and the "ftp" command line utility can open download.nvidia.com just
fine, even by using the same user/pass that konqueror uses
