the attached testcase redirects on khtml but not on every other browser I've tested.

Here's some more information out of our IRC log:

document.onload = function() { location.replace(this.href) } - then not-konq goes to \
the URL .../undefined

same with "null"

location.replace(undefined) in FF does nothing

null does nothing, () does nothing, undefined goes to undefined, and '' does nothing \
