Summary: Host resolution from /etc/hosts fails when wifi
disconnected (all kde apps get unknown host).
Product: kdelibs
Version: unspecified
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: knetwork
AssignedTo: thiago kde org
ReportedBy: james albanarts com
Version: (using KDE 3.5.9)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
Compiler: gcc version 4.1.2 20070925 (Red Hat 4.1.2-33) didn't compile kde \
with this compiler, got from fedora repository
OS: Linux
I have a local webserver and a number of host names set up in /etc/hosts which go to \
127.0.0.1. These are resolvable by all network programs until I disconnect my wifi (I \
use network manager, nm-applet). All these hosts are then inaccessible to kde \
programs until the wifi is reconnected. konqueror says "unknown host", kwrite has a \
similar error and can't open them either. kde programs can resolve "localhost" (and \
"127.0.0.1"), but can't resolve any other host names in /etc/hosts while the wifi is \
disconnected. Non-kde web browsers can resolve these host names fine (e.g. firefox, \
opera, ping, wget).
Konqueror doesn't print anything to stdout/stderr.
I've searched the bug db and couldn't find anything matching this problem.
