This looks suspiciously like a kernel or SANE problem.  Please confirm the scanner \
model and connection in use.

Please also verify if possible whether this still happens with an up-to-date SANE and \
Kooka installation (try KDE 3.5.9, unfortunately no Kooka in KDE 4).
