Discovered that it's something to do with the DNS - when I switched to using openDNS \
then everything started working Ok.

On the one hand, this could be a case of 'fix your DNS - not our problem'. But since \
no other browser has any problem, this is probably still something konqueror (or a \
component of KDE) needs to have fixed.
