To have a environment variable set while you're working in GUI programs you have to \
make sure they're set during logging into your PC. .bashrc is the wrong file for \
that, what you want is .bash_profile.

However, you made me think about this and I'm going to add an env var widget in the \
QMake Manager settings under Project Options this weekend. Any variables that are set \
there will be available when parsing QMake files. So that'll be far easier to use - \
once implemented. I added you to the CC list of the corresponding wishlist report.
