Hmm, I recall having fixed an issue with variable resolving not too long ago, so \
maybe 3.5.0 as released officially with KDE 3.5.8 doesn't have that fix.

Would you mind either using one of the packages from our website or build kdevelop \
yourself from svn and test? I can't reproduce any problem with variables - neither \
$(foo) nor $$(foo) here. That is the first one is not replaced, but the second \
version is properly replaced.
