To add a new interface, and utilize it within Kate, the following steps are 
required:

* Define the interface within KTE (kdelibs/interfaces/ktexteditor)
* Make KateDocument (in kdelibs/kate) inherit it

If that is possible, we could consider adding this for kde 4.1
