I think the confusion in this and all referenced errors has been caused by the simple \
                fact that the option 'Use spaces instead of tabs to indent' is \
                present two times:
* once in the editing settings
* once at the indentation settings

Setting this at the editing settings may cause kate to ignore the same setting at the \
indentation settings and should therefore be considered an error; either synchronize \
both checkboxes or fade the other one out as long as it has no effect because the \
primary one has been marked and make kate comment that case on why it has faded the \
secondary checkbox out.
