Services module for Guidance parses /etc/issue file and searches for "Debian" string to identify Debian distribution. See: http://lxr.kde.org/source/extragear/utils/guidance/serviceconfig/serviceconfig.py?v=3.5-branch#261

This is very unreliable solution as this file can be modified by system administrator. And it does not work for derivatives. In such case services module crashes with message (in console) that it cannot find /etc/rc.d/rc0.d directory.

The more reliable and LSB-compliant way is to use LSB identifier provided by lsb_release command.
I will attach a patch which does that.
