------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is. http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=150347 Summary: [PATCH] Guidance does not use distribution LSB id for services module, but parses /etc/issue to detect Debian systems Product: guidance Version: unspecified Platform: Ubuntu Packages OS/Version: Linux Status: NEW Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general AssignedTo: sebas kde org ReportedBy: krzysiek lichota net Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.2) Installed from: Ubuntu Packages Services module for Guidance parses /etc/issue file and searches for "Debian" string to identify Debian distribution. See: http://lxr.kde.org/source/extragear/utils/guidance/serviceconfig/serviceconfig.py?v=3.5-branch#261 This is very unreliable solution as this file can be modified by system administrator. And it does not work for derivatives. In such case services module crashes with message (in console) that it cannot find /etc/rc.d/rc0.d directory. The more reliable and LSB-compliant way is to use LSB identifier provided by lsb_release command. I will attach a patch which does that.
