I can reproduce this in KDE/kscreensaver 3.5.7 and X.org 7.2 all too easily, its \
really annoying to have the screen go black periodically as you read long documents.

This issue is difficult to reproduce on regular mice, because you can't help but move \
the pointer a bit when moving the wheel around. (Moving the pointer resets the \
screensaver countdown). However, with trackballs, the pointer is completely stable \
when using the mouse buttons/wheel.

I'm using a Microsoft Trackball Optical.
