I can confirm this bug using KFtpGrabber 0.8.1 with KDE 3.5.7 under Gentoo.

I got suspicious of it when my Laptop began to squeak after starting KFtpGrabber :-)
powertop showed me 8000-9000 wake-ups per second, too.
