I still have this bug with Kopete 0.12.5, using KDE 3.5.7 on Debian Sid. I only use \
Jabber (GTalk). Daniels method to apply by custom global identity by clicking \
temporarily marking "Use nickname from contact for global nickname" works for me. The \
error is also corrected by editing the "Custom" nickname field, and then clicking \
"OK", even though I e.g. only remove a letter in the name temporarily, so that the \
name doesn't change.
