Responding to #4, the program normally takes a while to hang. I'll try to gather this \
data but it will take a while to get a significant average...

I am using Amarok 1.4.7 with Xine 1.1.7. My distro is Archlinux.

I'll try running with strace and from a terminal to see if it works more reliably.
