As you say, it would be silly to write everything in every note to disk every time a \
change is made.  But then, that isn't what I proposed.

You should write the thing that has changed to disk every time a change is made.  

It doesn't make sense for all applications, but it does for this one.  When I make a \
note, I want to rely on it being there, even if I'm forced to shut my machine down.

Check out the Gnome counterpart.  It has its own problems...but not this one.
