Well, I can write new text only by using Copy & Paste, but it's still the same \
characters that drop out.

BTW, doing "less UTF-8-demo.txt" in Konsole does very weird things, some characters \
are misplaced at the end of line, some sections are missing (this is definitely font \
problem) but generally you need to clear the Konsole window after this since garbage \
is hanging out at random places. 

Doing the same with xterm -xrm "xterm*.utf8Fonts.font: \
-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--18-120-100-100-c-90-iso10646-1" yields completely \
correct display.
