I took a look at the apply_patches script and it does indeed loop forever when there is no user input.  \
This is worse than merely waiting forever since it uses up CPU cycles to do it, as you noticed.

The apply_patches script has been corrected, so this should fix the error for other kdesvn-build users in \
the future as well.
