That just popped into mind: What about hitting the <end> key twice to escape the \
list?

That would fit seamlessly into the "main mode" of kate, where a single <end> goes to \
the last character of the line (even if it's a blank) and a doubled <end> moves the \
cursor to the last non-whitespace character.

I think, that doubled <end> would stick && become intuitive rather quickly.

Additionally, it could be performed without taking notice ("waking up", as I called \
it before).
