------- Additional Comments From alan-jenkins tuffmail co uk 2007-03-19 20:23 \
------- OK. I think you're being a little picky, but I did jump to the wrong \
conclusion. Is the following any more useful?

If I add to the current playlist lines from the Magnatude sidebar (e.g. right click \
on an individual track and select "add item to playlist"), amarok uses the stream \
names as titles in the playlist and only displays the real title, artist and album \
when it starts to play the corresponding stream.

My wish was that the real title, artist and album information was shown when the \
stream was added to the playlist. I originally believed that the information was not \
available to the Maganatune component because it was using M3U playlists similar to \
the "m3u" link on the Magnatune website, which did not contain this information, and \
that this could be resolved by switching to the XSPF equivalent, which would do.

Taking the brute force approach and running wireshark while Amarok is updating its \
database, I see XML which includes detailed track metadata e.g.

<Track>
    <artist>American Bach Soloists</artist>
    <artistphoto>http://magnatune.com//artists/img/abs.jpg</artistphoto>
    <artistdesc>virtuosic Bach performances and more</artistdesc>
    <albumname>J.S. Bach - Mass in B Minor CD1</albumname>
    <trackname>Laudamus te</trackname>

It appears that Amarok is simply not using this information. I suggest an action \
which would fulfil this wish would be to use the information from this XML when \
populating the playlist using the Magnatune sidebar.
