I can confirm this on kmail 1.9.6 using KDE 3.5.6 on FreeBSD 6.2 (RELENG_6). It has \
been an issue for several releases now, but has been sidelined by other IMAP issues \
I've been having with kmail so I haven't reported it.
If I force a mail check from my imap server then I get the up arrow button next to \
the statusbar in the bottom-right corner of the kmail window with a down-arrow button \
next to it. If I don't press the down-arrow button before the detailed progress \
dialogs go away, then whenever I load a new folder, or a new message I get the \
detailed progress dialogs with NO down-arrow button to dismiss them. I have to do \
something like force a mail check to get the down arrow button back. I don't even get \
a down-arrow on folders that take several seconds to load.
