           Summary: media does not honour the storage.automount_enabled_hint
                    from hal
           Product: kio
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: media
        AssignedTo: ervin kde org
        ReportedBy: alan chandlerfamily org uk

Version: unknown (using KDE 3.5.5, Debian Package 4:3.5.5a.dfsg.1-5 (4.0))
Compiler:          Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.19

I have a Casio EX-Z70 digital camera which acts as a usb mass storage device.

I have created a hal fdi file in order for the device that contains the volume when \
the camera is plugged in to have "camera" capabilities, but even so - it is not \
automounted (and therefore Digikam fails when it tries to read the data from the \
camera).

After a lot of poking around in the code, I discovered that it is only mounted if

mediamanagerrc has a section like this

[/org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_CASIO_COMPUTER_CASIO_QV_DIGITAL]
automount=true

This seems a total waste of time and effort, since hal aready has for this device

storage.automount_enabled_hint = true

which could be used to mount the camera.

The relevent code is in kdebase/kioslave/media/mediamanager/halbackend.cpp
