I have the same problem without mesa and boson 0.13 compiled from sources :
boson: ERROR: [bool BoRenderTarget::enable()] Can't enable invalid render target!
boson: ERROR: [bool BoRenderTarget::disable()] Can't disable invalid render target!

Each error make the screen blinking (about one blink per second).

I had the same blinking problem with boson 0.12, but only when the radar map was \
activated. In this case, each radar refresh caused a screen blink.
