I've seen that double From lines and wondered about them. In mbox format,
there you have this From line (w/o colon) at the beginning of each message,
i.e. such a line marks the beginning of a message. Kmail is correct when
saving a message with that line, because it uses the mbox format. Messages in
local KMail folders in maildir format (they have subdirs cur / new / tmp)
should not have that additional line at the beginning but start with a valid
header (with column).
Can you perhaps try to find out how / when the lines get added twice?
