I've tested it using an MMC card and two USB storage devices. Three icons are created, all of which have the menu entry available. Choosing it from any one device causes the remaining (the operation is performed successfully) desktop icons to lose the menu entry. As a workaround, I simply unmount the remaining devices from the command-line.
