Actually, I still have an unreliable connection to hotmail mail in KDE 3.5.5 on an \
upgraded Debian system. When Kopete says I have mail on hotmail, I click to open it, \
and then the web browser gives an error.

The problem appears to be that Kopete is making a magic HTML file, opening the \
browser on that, and then deleting the HTML file before the web browser gets started. \
In my case, I am simply using /usr/bin/firefox as my web browser. However, I have \
firefox configured to reuse an open window; thus it is entirely possible that \
Kopete's call to firefox exits before firefox actually reads the HTML file.

There are ways to fix this. The sloppiest but simplest way would be to have a 5 \
minutes minimum before the file gets deleted. The cleanest would be a direct URL to \
hotmail, but I am sure the Kopete team has given up on that for some reason. \
Presuming that a direct URL is impossible, the best I can think of would be to put a \
tiny web server within Kopete itself, and then Kopete itself could serve out the \
magic HTML files via ungessable random URLs.
