I see almost identical behavior (using Ubuntu 6.06 and 6.10 with kdvi 3.5.2 and \
3.5.4).
I don't have the Minion fonts; but I have a home-made palatino-math package, using \
Adobe's Palatino and mathtime fonts. With a testfile like the one above, there is no \
crash; but I get a crash with this:
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{mypalatino} % My home-made package
\begin{document}
$e^{i,j}$
\end{document}
To reproduce the crash, I open the dvi file with kdvi, then hit "Ctrl-R" (refresh) \
twice. This gives the crash dialog, with a backtrace almost identical to the one \
posted above.
xdvi has no trouble with the dvi file.
