I also think this bug should be reopened.
The filter bar is good. However, you have to use the mouse to focus it (if you don't \
tab; and if you have for example the Edit Global Identify Widget too you have to tab \
twice). Another "problem" is that you only use it occasionally, so most of the time \
it just takes up space.

Something like Firefox' "Find in this page" would be great, but instead of searching \
Kopete should filter. You may want to look at Konversation which has this kind of \
search bar now.

Kopete's filter bar:
- Shouldn't be visible by default.
- If you press ctrl+f (you may change the shortcut) it would show up at the bottom of \
                the contact list.
- Now you can write anything and Kopete will filter out anything that doesn't match. \
It should look for e.g. e-mail if you're using MSN too, instead of \
                just username.
- Kopete should highlight the most relevant contact. You may "browse" the contacts \
with up/down arrow. When you've found you person you juse have to press <Enter>, and \
a new conversation with that contact starts. At the same time, the filter bar \
                disappears.
- If the filter bar is active, you may press <Esc> to hide it. Next time you press \
ctrl+f, the filter bar is a) empty or b) filled with previous text but selected (like \
                Konversation) (?)
- If you've written something in the filter bar, you may press ctrl+f to select the \
text.

I guess that's all. It should look like the filter bar does right now (clear - filter \
bar) but with a close button to the right.
