Hi Julian,

Well, this is an old Fortran 77 code that is nowadays used to run on 
computers with 4GB and 8GB of RAM. This time I was trying to run it on a 
512 MB machine. I guess the overhead of valgrind was just enough to deny 
the possibility of allocating the static arrays. I will try this on a 
machine with more memory before I begin to alter the code.
