Summary: kontact change contact address does not alter the
                    address label
           Product: kaddressbook
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: tokoe kde org
        ReportedBy: peterl avex co uk

Version: 3.5.3 (using KDE 3.5.4 Level "a" , unofficial build of SUSE )
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.16.21-0.13-smp

When a contact has only one address, and that has an address label, it might be \
expected that the address label reflects the contents of that one address. When the \
one address is edited, the contents of the address label are not changed. If there is \
a label, it is the contents of the address label that are displayed in kontact. \
Editing the address without editing the address label appears to have no effect on \
the address stored for the contact.

To test this open an "Edit Contact" dialogue for a contact that has only one address \
and has an address label, alter the address in any way by clicking on "Edit \
Addresses..." but do not edit the label. Click "OK" on the "Edit Address" dialogue \
and then click "OK" on the "Edit Contact" dialogue. Note that the address displayed \
for the contact has not changed.

If the address label were to be able to contain codes selecting elements of the \
contact's address, for example %<Home:Street> to select the contents of the "Street" \
element in the "Home" address, then the label would always reflect the address, \
however edited. This would resolve this problem and a user could specify a default \
address label format.
