------- I would suggest to put the list of files (and directories) that are VCS files \
into a pattern file somewhere in /share/apps/. This way a user may modify this list \
without changing the code. Then replace "grep -v -e ... -e ..." with "grep -v -f \
$file" and everything is fine. I just checked, even HP-UX grep knows about -f so I \
assume every reasonable grep outside there will do it right.
