I've done these tests. I own an inspiron 510m and altought I know it is not \
"officially" listed to be supported, it almost works.

The only problem for me is that once I insert the CD in the aux bay I get the kmilo \
in the explained behaviour.

I've done the tests in #6 and find that before inserting the CD the Fn status digit \
is always 0, no matter how and when the Fn key is pressed. Once I insert the CD the \
digit is always 2, so I guess there could be a problem in the i8k module.

Still I wonder what is the best solution to solve this problem.
