Summary: update from older versions should work better
           Product: kopete
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: kopete-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: bugs.kde.org pietzowski de

Version: 0.12.0 (using KDE 3.5.3 Level "a" , unofficial build of SUSE )
Compiler: Target: i586-suse-linux
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.13-15.7-default

Hello,

I use kopete now over years and always migrated my configs with updates. Now I \
updated to version 0.12 (compiled on my own) and first off it worked. But then I \
tried many things in the settigs dialog and changed photos from buddies and so on and \
on. Suddenly kopete crashed and it didn't start anymore after that. It hung after \
startup and no gui refresh. I deleted ~/.kde/share/config/kopeterc and then it \
started again. I don't have an idea what the reason was but my config file was broke. \
I was glad that I had a copy of the old version on my laptop.

My wish now is: Please make sure that older configurations migrate with updates, and \
not only the binary of the application! I really don't wanna delete my $HOME/.kde for \
every upgrade.

Thanks - kopete kicks anyway (besides some - not unfixable *g* - hang-ups)
Andreas
