I toyed around with your proposal. I also added some safeguards in other places of \
KMix, so that it will behave nicely on OSS and the other Backends. Unfortunately only \
close() does work. open() does not work at all. It might work with OSS, but the ALSA \
backend isn't prepared at all. I got all sorts of strange behaviour including crashes \
(while running, while quitting KMix). While there is also a chance that it might work \
with certain soundcards, I wouldn't want to include this in KDE3.5. The best bet is \
unfortunately still to script a "kill" of KMix on a ACPI suspend.
