The libpng conflict is, I think, a separate issue - I forgot to advise you of that, \
Gianluca.  Essentially, it's specific to Slackware.  As you know, the aaa_elflibs \
package has a minimal set of "just in case" libraries that are installed at initial \
system setup and should not be reinstalled or upgraded if you have newer libs \
installed since then (this would generally be acceptable when doing an upgrade from \
one release to another, IMHO, assuming you don't have newer versions of things than \
what is on the release).  Anyway, the older libpng* files from the 10.2 aaa_elflibs \
package were still installed on my system.  They *should* have been removed by the \
first upgrade to the libpng package, and they almost certainly were, so I apparently \
upgraded the aaa_elflibs package at some point *after* installing an updated libpng \
package.  To make a long story short, removing the libpng* files contained in \
aaa_elflibs solved the conflict. RW
