Summary: More flexible file structure for generic media devices
           Product: amarok
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist lists sourceforge net
        ReportedBy: linux jrockey com

Version: 1.4 (using KDE KDE 3.5.2)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

The new generic media device support in Amarok 1.4 is great. The only niggle for me \
is that it would be helpful to be able to specify a bit more than just "Album", \
"Artist" and "Genre" in the directory structure of the media device.

In particular, a "first letter" option would be very useful. The reason for me is \
that I use an iRiver HP140 in "Filesystem browse" mode (the 'database' option is \
waaay too slow to start up), and structure directories beginning with the first \
letter of the artist, i.e.

/A/Abba/Abba Gold/...
/A/Adam Ant/Antmusic/..
/B/Bright Eyes/Fevers and Mirrors/...

etc.

This allows me to find an artist on the player quickly (scrolling through all artist \
name without an iPod-style wheel takes a long time).

Thanks for all the great work. Amarok is an amazing achievement.
