Summary: amarok + xine engine wont play UTF-8 encoded filenames
           Product: amarok
           Version: 1.4-beta3
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist lists sourceforge net
        ReportedBy: dev gioelebarabucci com

Version: 1.4-beta3 (using KDE 3.5.1, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.4.4 (Gentoo 3.4.4, ssp-3.4.4-1.0, pie-8.7.8)
OS: Linux (ppc) release 2.6.16-gentoo-r4

The xine engine refuses to play files whose names are encoded with UTF-8.

This is what it says:

 |xine could not find the URL: file:///media/kafka/Music/CDs/Caparezza/Verità supposte/05 - Limiti.flac
 | xine parameters: file:///media/kafka/Music/CDs/Caparezza/Verit%E0%20supposte/05%20-%20Limiti.flac

Is it correct to convert "Ã " to "%E0"?

$KDE_UTF8_FILENAMES is set to 1 and konqueror/kio can manage these files without problems.
