           Summary: KDE personal data storage
           Product: kde
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: coolo kde org
        ReportedBy: alain.second laposte net

Version: inconnu (using KDE 3.5.1, Debian Package 4:3.5.1-2 \
                (testing/unstable))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.11-kanotix-11

ARRRRGH!

Please NO MORE personal data like bookmarks, podcasts, addressbooks & so on.. saved \
(would be more exact to say carefully HIDED, like with Redmond OSes) in cryptic \
locations like "/home/ego/.kde/share/apps/amarok/podcasts/data/" !!! Wasted yet \
today one hour to find a file... An adult user needs to CONTROL these data EASILY, \
see them easily, backup them easily, use them easily with HIS software ... (ok, KDE \
is often the best, but...), ... even delete or corrupt them easily if he wants so \
(he is an adult user)

A good application should ask the user where he wants these personal data to be \
saved before to save any data! Hidden (good hidden) files are a good location for \
internal application needs, eventually (?) for user configs, and nothing else. I \
know, everybody can find what he wants with free software, but Mr Normaleverybody \
has no time to waste!
