hmm.
wouldn't there be mandrake forums and irc channels that could help you
upgrade your computer? sounds like it's in need of a general upgrade
for everything...
I don't even know what package manager you're using, if any- back when
I tried mandrake, there was none, and I got into dependency hell...
haven't used it at all since then...

of course, you could probably *try* to download kopete source and
compile, but that might be even more compilcated if you're not even
used to normal installation.
