Summary: HTTPS via Proxy is broken (CONNECT request is send as
data)
Product: konqueror
Version: 3.4.2
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: konq-bugs kde org
ReportedBy: Ronny.Standtke gmx net
Version: 3.4.2 (using KDE 3.4.2, Debian Package 4:3.4.2-4 \
(testing/unstable))
Compiler: Target: i486-linux-gnu
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.12-1-686
I want to use Konqueror to log into my Sourceforge project admin account via a squid \
proxy. It fails because Konqueror has the following bug in its HTTPS implementation:
If you log into SF Konqueror first sends a "CONNECT sourceforge.net:443" request to \
the proxy. After some SSL traffic Konqueror sends a new "CONNECT \
ostgsso.sourceforge.net:443" request to the proxy. All correct to this point. But \
after some data exchange on this connection Konqueror sends a "CONNECT \
sourceforge.net:443" request in the already established HTTPS tunnel.
This way the last "CONNECT" request is just some random tunnel data for the proxy. It \
passes this data to ostgsso.sourceforge.net which (not being a proxy) does not \
understand this "CONNECT" request and closes the connection.
To fix the bug Konqueror needs to establish a new connection to the proxy when \
requesting the third "CONNECT". _______________________________________________
