Directory name size limit bug in Mysql backend
Product: amarok
Version: unspecified
Platform: Compiled Sources
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: amarok-bugs-dist lists sourceforge net
ReportedBy: aenertia aenertia net
Version: SVN - Possibly all versions prior to SVN as of 09/10/2005 (using KDE KDE 3.4.2)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: GCC 3.4.4 amd64
OS: Linux
With paths longer than 85 characters in length, the path name is truncated when inserted into the mysql \
table 'directories' in the dir feild which is set as ;dir varchar(85) utf8_general_ci Yes \
NULL
This causes very strange behaviour from the users point of view, in that in a collection/db update, \
amarok will load the tracks into the collection and have them visible to the user (as well as \
incorporating their metadata). But these tracks will be unplayable.
Certain places within amarok that don't use the database for file path information allows files to be \
loaded into the playlist. However this does not work from the collection or most context windows.
The simple fix is to increase the 'dir' variable in the mysql database to be something longer (probably \
want to use the largest unix path name... just in case).
I am unsure if this is purely my issue, I first noticed this issue after updating to Mysql 4.1.14 from \
4.0.x.
It is possible that during this update something went screwy... but because the files which is not \
playing are in a very long path location, and were added after updated to 4.1 and that some of those \
files with paths slightly less than 85 chars work fine (i.e albums in same long directory... but some \
album dirs not over the 85 char limit... work fine).
If this is an artifact left over from updating to 4.1 from 4.0 series, then we need to check or at least \
note this somewhere.
Can someone confirm this please.
Kind regards
Joel W(AEnertia)
