/proc/self/* gives many opportunities for programs to look behind the
curtain and get confused by not seeing what they expected.  We already
have kludges in place to deal with /proc/self/exe and /proc/self/cmdline,
and that was nasty enough.  I'm not convinced it's worth going to much
effort to simulate /proc/self/anything-else.
