Can you attach gdb to the running kmail, to get a backtrace of kmail, to see why it's \
frozen?

gdb kmail <pid>

(Or starting kmail in gdb from the start, with "gdb kmail"  and then "run --nofork", \
and Ctrl-C when it hangs)

Then "bt" to get a backtrace.
