Sorry, I can't reproduce this, it seems to be very dependent on the hardware.
By the way, if it's caused on your hardware by the CD polling part of the
mediamanager, KDE 3.5 will introduce an option available in kcontrol to
disable it. Hence why I consider this as fixed.
