Summary: Embedded designer crashes when opening a UI file a
second time.
Product: kdevelop
Version: unspecified
Platform: Fedora RPMs
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: general
AssignedTo: kdevelop-bugs kdevelop org
ReportedBy: rgahern link com
Version: 3.1.1, 3.2 (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Fedora RPMs
Compiler: gcc 3.4.2 20041017
OS: Linux
After moving the kdevelop executable to a development tree in which I am currently \
working, the embedded designer crashes when opening a UI file a second time. This \
move is necessary since I do not have root access on this particular machine and the \
embedded designer will not save my preferences (Namely the addition of a new plugin \
path).
Designer picks up custom plugins resident within the ./designer directory and, as a \
result, it was decided to put our custom libraries here. Due to the nature of our \
application and our build environment, we may have different versions of these \
libraries installed into different directories. Simply dropping designer into each \
build's main tree was the only approach the development team could agree upon.
When opening kdevelop, I can open a UI file in the embedded designer once. If I \
close it and try to reopen any UI file, the application will crash. Only kdevelop \
was copied over and it seems trying to copy any "sister" apps such as kdevdesigner \
prove no help. The issue is a problem we are all having and has been easily \
reproduceable within the company.
