Ok, I'm going to give you the debug information asap.
The kdm_greet wrapper is just a trick we made to apply xrandr settings for root user \
to KDM (nice if this could be done by kdm itself on startup):
#!/bin/sh
sed -i "s|\(ApplyOnStartup\).*|\1=true|" /root/.kde/share/config/kcmrandrrc
HOME=/root /usr/bin/krandrinithack
/usr/bin/kdm_greet1 $@
Anyway removing the wrapper doesn't fix the problem.
