It is supposed to be consistent already - KOffice apps being network transparent, \
they shouldn't even show you a /tmp path, but open the remote file directly (ok that \
means a temp file internally, but the user can't see it).

Are you sure that you have proper .desktop files for koffice?
kword.desktop for instance should say
Exec=kword %u
which means "I can handle URLs, not only local paths", so that konqueror doesn't \
download the file locally before giving it to kword.
