i got the same bug:

1. open a file with kate
2. open the same file with other editor, change it and save
3. kate will show a dialogbox with a checkbox -> uncheck it and reload
4. kate goes into endless loop.

i compiled kde 3.4 from srouce with gcc 3.3.2 (linux)
