Yes, i can reproduce this bug by adding a linebreak in the XML file.
Anyway, this is not a parsing bug of the contactlist.

The real question is how a linebreak is gone there ?

Kopete doesn't let you enter manually linebreak for display name.
Anyway, if syncing with the server is enabled, a contact may have set a linebreak in his nick.

So should kopete strip linebreak in nickname ?
Or should kwin strip linebreak in caption ?
